Leaders Romans Group, one of the UK’s largest property services groups, has confirmed the completion of the acquisition of Isle of Wight estate agents Hose Rhodes Dickson.
Island Echo exclusively revealed that the local estate agency was being bought out last month, but it has only been confirmed today that the sale has gone through.
Hose Rhodes Dickson (HRD) has grown organically since its inception in 1990 with 8 branches currently operating in Ventnor, Newport, Bembridge, Cowes, East Cowes, Ryde, Shanklin and Freshwater.
Under new ownership, HRD has ambitious plans to strengthen its position within the property market, as well as bringing additional services to the Isle of Wight. It’s understood that there will be more focus on lettings than sales but it is currently unknown if any branches will be closed as part of this acquisition.
The 3 active directors Matthew White, Marcus Waldron and Jamie Busby will retain leadership roles within the business.
Marcus Waldron, from Hose Rhodes Dickson, has said:
“We’re delighted to be joining LRG and look forward to seeing the business go from strength to strength. Ours is a real success story – we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and we’re even more excited by what our future holds under new ownership.
“LRG is a great cultural fit for us; we continue to be a local company, led by Isle of Wight-based directors, who are committed to serving the local community. Our customers can expect the same high-quality service and values from the same dedicated and knowledgeable team, with the benefit of being supported by one of the UK’s largest and most respected property groups.”
Matthew Light, Group Mergers & Acquisitions Director at LRG, has commented:
“We’re pleased to have been selected by Hose Rhodes Dickson following a competitive process and look forward to welcoming them into the LRG family.
“The experienced team will now join our ranks and bring a wealth of local knowledge that will be supported by the additional services from LRG, helping each customer on their individual property journey. This move supports both the LRG and Hose Rhodes Dickson growth strategies, and we are all very excited for what is to come”.
HRD Auction Rooms is Brading is unaffected by this takeover as it is operated as a separate business.
Leaders Romans is 1 of the UK’s largest property services groups and was formed in 2016 following the merger of Leaders, Romans and Boyer. The group boasts over 219 branches and employs more than 2,600 people.

How lovely. Does this mean we will soon be getting some accurate property listings now? Not just pics of the surrounding area of years ago. Shanklin listings are particularly good for that – what use are photos of a crazy golf that hasn’t been in place for years???
Last time I had dealings with Romans, it was not a pleasant experience… Maybe they’ll do better on the Island.
A leopard never changes it’s spots and I have also had a very bad experience with Romans
So what. Who cares?……………….
Maybe people that chose to use Romans…
A sad day to see this independent sell out to a corporate, I just hope everyone has kept their jobs and that the company doesn’t change.
