A smoking tumble dryer in the utility room of a Bembridge home has led to a call out for firefighters this evening (Monday).
2 appliances from Ryde and Sandown were mobilised at just gone 17:00 to reports of an electrical fire at an address on Egerton Road, at the junction with Crossways.
Fire crews arrived on scene to find a smoke logged ground floor, with 2 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus committed to locate the source.
It has been confirmed to Island Echo that the suspected cause is a faulty electrical socket, to which the tumble drier was plugged in.
The tumble drier has now been removed from the property.
Positive pressure ventilation is being used to clear lingering smoke.
