Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue LogoFirefighters from Newport and Freshwater have ventilated a smoke logged property in the West Wight this afternoon (Sunday).

Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to Collards Close off Sunset Close, Freshwater at just before 14:45 after receiving 999 reports of smoke inside a property.

After forcing entry into the building it was discovered to be empty, however a pan left on a stove was identified as the source of the alert and was removed by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

The property has now been ventilated.
