A faulty security device has caused a pharmacy in Sandown to fill with smoke – prompting a call out for Shanklin firefighters.
It was shortly before 16:30 this afternoon (Sunday) that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was alerted by members of the public to smoke issuing from Boots, on the High Street.
The first firefighters on scene quickly ascertained that the smoke was not caused by a fire, but instead a security device designed to confuse any burglars.
It appears the device has been triggered by mistake, with no signs of a break in.
Boots remained filled with smoke but Firefighters are using positive pressure ventilation to clear the lingering smoke from the premises.

This article might have been better if you could explain the “positive pressure ventilation” process.
its high-powered blowers/fans to pressurize a building, forcing smoke and toxic gases out of predetermined exit points
Sounds a great security device NOT!
