SMOKE ALARMS ALERT OCCUPANTS TO HOUSE FIRE

Working smoke alarms have saved the occupants of a house in Freshwater after a fire broke out during the early hours of this morning (Saturday). 

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the small property fire in Middleton at around 03:00.

2 appliances from Freshwater and Newport were mobilised to the scene and the crews worked to quickly extinguish the fire, which broke out in the kitchen.

Thankfully, the occupants of the property escaped any injury.

Firefighters ventilated the building before returning to station.
