Wightlink will be running a single boat service on its Ryde to Portsmouth FastCat route for the rest of today (Saturday).
The withdrawal of the vessel has come after a mechanical issue was discovered with Wight Ryder 2 at around 09:00.
As a result, sailings due to depart Ryde at quarter past the hour (xx:15) and those departing Portsmouth at quarter to the hour (xx:45) have been cancelled.
Departures at quarter to the hour (xx:45) from Ryde and quarter past the hour (xx:15) from Portsmouth are still operating.
Tickets for the affected sailings can be used on other FastCat sailings as well as on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth vehicle ferry.
Wightlink says the action is necessary to allow their engineering teams to repair the issue and return the boat to service as promptly as possible.
Apologies have been issued.
UPDATE @ 15:00 – Wight Ryder 2 has been repaired and is back in service. Sailings between Ryde and Portsmouth have returned to timetable.
