Police have closed Forest Road in Newport this afternoon (Tuesday) as they respond to a 2-car crash. Island Echo understands that a car travelling along the main Newport-Yarmouth road has gone into the side of another vehicle as it was exiting the garden centre, between Standen Avenue and the entrance to Parkhurst Forest. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 13:20. Motorists are currently being diverted via Gunville. UPDATE @ 14:30 – Forest Road has now re-opened following recovery of 1 of the vehicles involved, a BMW. The other car – a red Hyundai – remains at the scene against the fence of Forest View Nursery.
