Residents in Shorwell and surrounding rural communities are without water tonight (Wednesday) – and have been for most of the day – following 2 bursts in the area. Locals say that supply was lost at around 12:30 with many households still without water almost 8 hours later. Others are experiencing low pressure. It’s understood there have been 2 burst water mains which is affecting households in Shorwell, Kingston, Afford and Billingham. Southern Water says that engineers are on site repairing the burst, with supplies expected to be restored by around 22:30. Those affected are warned that they may notice some discolouration or low pressure as water returns; this is completely normal when there’s been a disruption to the supply and is only temporary. Southern Water apologises for any inconvenience caused.
