Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following 2 shoplifting incidents at Morrisons in Newport.
The first incident took place on Tuesday 27th January, between 16:45 and 16:50, when a man entered the store and selected fresh meat items before leaving without paying.
The same man is reported to have returned to the store on Tuesday 10th February, between 15:20 and 15:25. On this occasion, he allegedly picked up a crate of beer and again left without making payment.
Following enquiries, officers are now in a position to share an image of a man seen in the area at the time who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
He is described as white, medium build, wearing a dark coloured coat, a beanie hat under a hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone who recognises the man, or who was in the area at the relevant times and saw anything suspicious, is asked to contact Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary on 101, quoting reference 44260047451.
Police are also keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell camera footage that may assist enquiries. Information can also be submitted online via www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/.

It is getting to the stage many of these stores should
only have one entrance in and out rather than
two entrances and make it like fort knox at the one and
only entrance / exit.
It would make it much more difficult for numpties stealing.
Facial recognition on the way in and on the way out.
Security positioned at the entrance too, preferably ex
Military not a pip squeak.
Its more likely the security guard would be charged with assault, for disrespecting a thief.
Too be honest in 2026 Britain I would say you are
spot on.
What went wrong with law and order.
Omw, nearly a month 9n and only now are pictures released, why not release them sooner?
Why is there always such a great gap between the offences and the photos being published? Almost zero chance of getting the shoplifter, especially if he’s from the mainland. Surely the pictures could be shown within 24 hours.
People always asume unsavoury people are from the
mainland. Rubbish.
From what I see on the island day in day out
All the numpties breaking the law are island residents.
Don’t get me wrong, many of the wrong ones who have been
born on the island probably have mainland parents who
moved to the island.
This is a very clear picture so there must be plenty of people who recognise this thief. I wonder who will come forward and identify him. Probably no one but those people are really no better than the thief himself. If we want to stop this happening itneeds the community to take a stand, not just look the other way. Remember, these thefts increase the prices the rest of us pay for our shopping
22nd of January and it is now 2nd of March. You buggers on the island need to get your acts together. With a clear picture like this, any self respecting copper would have this crettin nicked by now.
