Vectis RFC enjoyed a superb weekend of rugby across all age groups, highlighted by a Hampshire Shield triumph and a series of impressive performances.
UNDER 13s SHIELD WIN
Champions with dominant display
Vectis U13s travelled to Romsey for the Hampshire Shield Final and produced a composed performance to secure a 15-7 victory.
Theo Cherry opened the scoring early following slick handling, before Ed Foster ran in four tries in a standout attacking display. Defensively, Wyatt Lee and Jackson Flux led the line, with key turnovers from Gus McGillivray and Jasper Branston.
Finley Stephens and Billy Young controlled proceedings as Vectis held firm to seal the win.
Captain Jasper Branston was named opposition Man of the Match, with Gus McGillivray taking the management award.
COLTS CRUISE TO VICTORY
Second-half performance proves decisive
The Colts secured a convincing 38-11 league win away to Gosport & Fareham.
After a tight first half, Vectis pulled away with tries from Billy G (2), Freddie K, George C, Jack P and Arran, with Preston adding four conversions.
A key defensive hold-up from Milo and sharp distribution from Billy E helped control the game.
UNDER 8s PERFECT FESTIVAL
Four wins and full team effort
Vectis U8s won all four matches at the Trojans festival against USP, Romsey, Eastleigh and Alton.
A strong defensive line underpinned their success, while every player scored at least once. Megan was praised for her leadership and team-first approach.
UNDER 9s DEFENSIVE STRENGTH
Interceptions and teamwork shine
At the Hampshire Development Festival, the U9s impressed against physical opposition.
Henry Hurn stood out with multiple interceptions and tries, while Ugo Thorne and Baxter Buckingham were recognised for their work rate and leadership.
UNDER 10s IMPRESS IN BOURNEMOUTH
Rucking key to strong results
The U10s recorded three wins and a draw across four matches in Bournemouth.
Their dominance at the breakdown proved decisive, with Otto and Marlee named Players of the Day for their powerful displays.
UNDER 11s SHUTOUT DISPLAY
Defence delivers standout result
The U11s produced an 8-0 win over Havant among a strong set of performances at Alton.
Try-saving tackles came from Joey Shaw, Mylo Carter, Brody Morey, Harry Robinson and Albee Lynch, with Hugh Ramsey named Player of the Day.
UNDER 16s SHOW CHARACTER
Fightback despite adversity
The U16s battled back from 12-0 down before falling 19-12 to Alton at Wootton.
Reduced to 13 players through injury, they showed resilience with tries from James, Aya and Herbie, who also added two conversions.
