Vectis RFC’s youth sides enjoyed a memorable weekend of success with a county Shield victory, dominant festival displays and former players stepping up to represent Hampshire Under-20s.
From tournament drama at Havant to strong development performances across the region, the club’s youth pathway and values were on full display throughout the weekend.
VECTIS TALENT REPRESENT HAMPSHIRE UNDER-20S
Several former Vectis youth players stepped up to represent Hampshire Under-20s, marking a proud milestone for the club’s development pathway.
Cody and Josh earned places in the starting line-up, while Harry and Riley were selected as impact replacements from the bench.
The selections highlight the success of the club’s youth system and its strong links with the Island’s senior clubs, helping players progress into the adult game.
UNDER-12 BOYS LIFT SHIELD AT COUNTY TOURNAMENT

Vectis Under-12 boys showed resilience to win the Shield competition at the Hampshire County Tournament in Havant.
After drawing 1-1 with Trojans, losing narrowly 0-2 to Petersfield and defeating Portsmouth/Tottonians 2-1, Vectis progressed into the Shield rounds.
A 2-0 semi-final victory over Portsmouth/Tottonians, with tries from Isaac and Arlo, set up a tense final against Fordingbridge.
With the match level and time expired, Jack and Henry forced a turnover on the try line before Joe powered forward. Harry Gregg then scored the decisive try from the base of the ruck to secure a dramatic victory.
Coach Steve Dixon said:
“I am exceptionally proud of the boys today. After a tough first two games, they showed real fight and resilience.”
Henry and Jack led defensively in the final, while Albert and Harry were strong in midfield. Joe, Edward and Isaac impressed in the front row, with Daniel, George, Brodie and Rufus showing tireless work rate.
UNDER-12 GIRLS IMPRESS AT HAMPSHIRE FESTIVAL

Vectis Under-12 girls joined forces with Havant to compete in the Hampshire Festival, producing impressive performances throughout the day.
The combined side produced strong results:

The girls played with excellent teamwork and determination, highlighting the growing strength of girls’ rugby within the region.
UNDER-10S SHOW STRONG VALUES AT FAWLEY
Vectis Under-10s travelled to Fawley RFC for a development-focused training festival centred on teamwork and learning.
The squad performed strongly during friendly matches but the emphasis remained on development and teamwork.
Coaches praised the players for demonstrating the club’s TREDS values – teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship – throughout the day.
