SHED FIRE IN RYDE GARDEN

warwickstreetshedfire3UPDATED: Firefighters from Ryde and Newport are tackling a shed fire at a property in Warwick Street, Ryde this lunchtime (Sunday). 

Two appliances are in attendance at the semi detached home off St John’s Road having been called at around midday and crews are tackling the fire using one main jet, one hose reel and four breathing apparatus.

The road is currently closed whilst the incident is dealt with.

warwickstreetshedfire4UPDATE @ 13:25 – The fire, which has severely damaged a garden shed and a classic motorcycle stored inside, has been extinguished by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

An argon gas cylinder has been removed from the outbuilding and an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.

No one has been injured in the incident and fire crews are preparing to leave the scene.

The road is expected to reopen shortly

UPDATE @ 14:20 – The road has now reopened.
