40-year-old James Sheath, who was caught with Category A child abuse videos on his iPhone, has avoided an immediate prison sentence.
Sheath, now of Wilton Avenue, Southampton, but previously of Whitepit Lane, Newport, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children following an investigation into material found on his device.
The Isle of Wight Crown Court recently heard that in December 2022, Sheath made 20x Category A moving images and 1x Category B moving image involving children.
Category A material is the most serious classification of child abuse imagery.
Despite the severity of the offences, Sheath has avoided prison and instead been handed a Community Order running until April 2028.
As part of the sentence, he must complete 100 hours of unpaid work within 12 months, attend 26 rehabilitation sessions and undergo 12 mental health treatment sessions. He must also pay £200 costs and a £114 surcharge.
The court imposed a 5-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order containing extensive restrictions on Sheath’s access to technology and the internet.
Sheath is prohibited from contacting anyone under the age of 18 online and cannot dispose of devices without police approval.
He must also sign the Sex Offenders Register for 5 years.
The great British justice system at its ridiculous worst.
That judge is a disgrace. What on earth is going on with our judiciary that child abusers can carry on regardless? I despair of this country atm
Seem to be any pervert on this island that goes to court does not need to worry about their sentencing.
They won’t be looking at jail time. BUT, say park on double lines…. then you need to be concerned.

A particularly prattish response – the struggle you have with basic English does suggest you’ve not given this a lot of thought. Judges are independent of political parties – and this one would have had information you don’t have in deciding the sentence. If you don’t understand how the courts work, either find out, or – just shut up.

judges are meant to put these vile creatures away and protect our children .. instead you put them back on the streets to do it again .. it wont be long until we have had enough and start stringing them up ourselves ..
