Auckland House Hotel in Shanklin has gone on the market for almost £1million, 2 years after the hotel closed its doors making some 20 people redundant.
The Queens Road hotel was once owned by the disgraced Carlauren Group, but the doors were suddenly shut at the end of 2019 when the group collapsed.
Carlauren Group took over the Auckland Hotel in 2017 under the banner of The Care Home Group. A significant amount of money had been pumped into the hotel – said to be around £1million – before the liquidators were called in, bringing the 26-bedroom establishment up to a high standard.
It was in April this year that Phoenix Commercial Property Development Limited took over the Auckland House Hotel, as well as the Ocean Hotel in Sandown. The latter still sits in a derelict state and won’t re-open as a hotel following a fire earlier this year, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Now, the new owners are looking to offload their Shanklin asset and have put it on the market for £900,000.

Someone might buy it then a fire might break out then planning application to build residential houses might appear on the council’s desk. Maybe.
