A shoplifter from Shanklin who stole groceries from the Co-op has been handed a 12-month conditional discharge.
Declan Leach, 30, of High Street, admitted theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday 26th June.
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell told the court that on 30th September, Leach stole assorted groceries to the value of £47.90 belonging to The Co-op.
The court heard how Leach, who has no previous convictions, admitted the offences and was offered a conditional discharge however he failed to engage.
