96 members of Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club competed for the Royal British Legion’s Commemorative Golf Medal in teams of 4 on Sunday 10th November.
Club members gathered in the car park at 11:00 to observe the 2-minute silence to honour the fallen and – at 11:20 – the claxon sounded and the Texas Scramble competition began from a shot-gun start.
The winners of the RBL Commemorative Golf Medal were Club Captain Ray Winter, Ladies’ Captain Lorrie Hawkins and Vice Captains Dorian Cobb and Vicki Guildford carding a nett 51. Runners up, on count-back, with a nett 53 were Steve Dingsdale, Neil Fawcett, Gary Penhall and Dave Willoughby.
Nearest the pin for the ladies was won by Christine O’Brien and, for the men, Pete Rush.
The event raised £779 for the Royal British Legion.
