The outgoing captains of Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club, Sean Millward and Chrissy Gould, presented their chosen charity, SSAFA, with a cheque for £9,557.74, on Sunday (15th October).
SSAFA – The Soldiers’, Sailors’, & Airmen’s Families Association – is a charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependants. The donation had been raised by the Club throughout their year.
Sunday also saw Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club install their new Club and section Captains for the 2023/24 season.
Club Professional, Peter Hammond, then invited all four incoming Captains to drive down the first fairway and, all four, Brian Price (Club Captain), Dawn Hodge (Ladies’ Captain), Paul Brading (Senior’s Captain) and Tom Clemens (Junior’s Captain) did so admirably.
Members then took to the course in a hotly contested Sixes Stableford competition.
Taking the honours in the Men’s section, and winning overall with 128 points, were Mike Jones, Bill Foss, Graham Burgess and Steve Dingsdale.
Winners of the Mixed section were Paul and Louise Jensen and Neil and Bea Janes with 124 points.
For the Ladies, the winners were Chrissy Gould, Ruth Graves, Connie Huntington and Christine O’Brien with 118 points.

How nice to see a charity giving to those who give so much to the UK, instead of those just talking from our land.
