A devoted father has said he is determined never to be before the court again after pleading guilty to possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
37-year-old Ashley Smart, of Yarborough Arcade in Shanklin, admitted possessing a small amount of cocaine and cannabis when he appeared before Magistrates on Friday (5th November).
Smart was being arrested for unrelated matters on 24th September this year when Police conducted a search of his person and located the 2 drugs.
Henry Farley, defending, said his client was ashamed to be in court having last appeared in 2016, last appearing for drugs offences in 2012. Mr Farley said that drugs do not play a big part in his client’s life.
Ashley Smart, a self-employed builder, was fined £300 by Magistrates and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.

Well, there’s one builder I wont be hiring any time soon.
Only ashamed because he got caught !!!!!!
Drugs are Drugs so no question about fine ….. or maybe should be more ?????
Though am glad he is not builder !!!
my post removed -why for saying the truth
the guy is a perpetual drug user, masquerading as a builder. He has been in court for drugs in 2012, then in court again in 2016 and again in september – those are the three occasions that he was actually caught – what about all the other times he got away with it.
Same as mine … censorship of the truth
Hi there would like to know who you are? Seeing as you seem to think you know so much about about my boyfriend l!? When In fact you know nothing! So keep your opinions to yourself. Go get a life instead of trying to slander people on the internet!
So a hard working person likes to let loose in ways other than those prescribed by the government.
Big whoop. Get over yourselves.
I’d hire him if the work is good.
regular drug user – not reliable, not trustworthy and certainly not employable.
