After last year’s cancellations, Shanklin Carnival makes its return tomorrow evening (Wednesday). Shanklin Carnival was forced to cancel both their main and illuminated processions last year due to poor weather. It is estimated that this cost the committee around £6,000. Historically, a well-attended event, it is hoped that this year’s iteration will see crowds aplenty gather on the streets of the seaside town. Floats are meeting at Popham Road at 18:30 with the procession set to begin at around 19:00. Shanklin Illuminated will take place this Saturday (10th August).
