Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club handed over a cheque to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance for over £13,000 on Sunday 16th October
Outgoing Captains Bill Foss and Connie Huntington presented their chosen charity with a cheque for £13,600, which had been raised by the club throughout their year.
Club Professional, Peter Hammond, then invited all 4 incoming Captains – Sean Millward (Club Captain), Chris Gould (Ladies’ Captain), Paul Longman (Senior’s Captain) and James Clemens (Junior’s Captain) – to drive over the pond on the 9th hole.
Members then took to the course in a hotly contested Am-Am competition. Taking the honours in the Mixed section and winning overall with 101 points, were Catherine Bachelor, Michael Bulpitt, George Godliman and Dawn Hodge.
Winners of the Men’s section were Chris and Sam Cornwell, Steve Cutler and Mark Taskas with 99 points.
For the Ladies’ the winners were Carole Bingham, Anna Garriock, Angela Lassey and Viv Williams with 90 points.
After the competition, the Captains invited all members into the clubhouse to enjoy a cream tea with their compliments. They also revealed their chosen charity for the coming year as SSAFA, a charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependants.
