Southern Water has said that it requires another 2 weeks to complete sewage works at Binstead, which is causing an annoying diversion for local motorists.
A section of Newnham Lane that connects Binstead to Havenstreet has been closed since the end of November – and it will be another couple of weeks until the road re-opens.
Works have been taking place to repair a broken sewer, near the junction with Newnham Lane.
Motorists are having to divert via Fishbourne and Wootton, or Ryde and Haylands.
Southern Water hopes to have the works completed in time for Christmas.
Meanwhile, in nearby Ryde, it could be another 3 to 4 months until sewer repairs are completed at Queens Road, as exclusively revealed by Island Echo earlier this week.

Looking like SW are now assisting Island Roads and Whitefibre in closing all the roads. Will the useless council do something?
Heavy traffic damage from Reynolds and Reads? Hope the new fix has been designed to take the weight.
