CRASH AT HORRINGFORD

UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending a serious road traffic collision at Horringford near Arreton this afternoon (Tuesday).

1 appliance and a rescue tender from Newport Fire Station and an appliance from Shanklin are currently in attendance at the incident, which is thought to involve several vehicles.

The road is closed in both directions.

UPDATE @ 14:30 – Fire crews have now stood down from the incident which, thankfully, is not as serious as first feared by the emergency teams.

2 vehicles have been involved in the crash – a Mitshubishi Colt and a Suzuki Jimny – and there are understood to be 2 minor injuries.

The road has now reopened under Police direction, but traffic remains heavy in the area.

Recovery has been arranged.

UPDATE @ 15:45 – The scene has now been cleared.
