UPDATED: A serious road traffic collision involving 3 vehicles has resulted in the closure of Brading Down Road tonight (Sunday).
2 fire appliances, a rescue tender, 2 ambulances, several Police units and on-call fire and ambulance officers are all on scene at the View Point Car Parks.
The incident, which is thought to have taken place shortly before 21:15, has involved 2 Peugeots and a third unidentifiable car, which appears to have rolled several times.
The road is closed between the junction with Ashey Road (seamark) and The Mall, Brading.
UPDATE @ 22:55 – Hard road closures have been put in place by Island Roads as Police continue their investigations into the crash.
The specialist Collision Investigation Unit from the mainland has arrived on scene and officers are now starting a forensic inspection of the area. The CIU is called in for the most serious of incidents; life changing, life threatening and fatal road traffic collisions.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service remain on scene with 1 appliance, which is thought to be standing by to assist Police.
The road is expected to remain closed for the rest of the night indicating the seriousness of the injuries sustained.
UPDATE MONDAY – A 20-year-old man from Bembridge has died as a result of last night’s collision.
