Safety measures are being put in place this afternoon in Shanklin after a section of cliff fell towards the path below.
The cliff face near to Channel View Hotel has collapsed causing tons of gravel, dirt and rocks to fall towards the Sandown to Shanklin Revetment, narrowly missing the Shanklin Sailing Club building.
The cliff path between Delphi Road and St Boniface Cliff Road has been closed by HSS Hire on behalf of Island Roads and pedestrians are warned not to attempt to bypass safety fencing and closure notices.
40m of metal fencing has been erected.
This recent cliff fall follows two similar incidents between the two seaside towns of Sandown and Shanklin, as reported by Island Echo.
