A chef who was caught with a small amount of cocaine whilst enjoying a night out at The Man in the Moon pub in Newport has been handed a fine by the courts.
Benjamin Griffiths, 24, of Fitzroy Street in Sandown, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class A when he appeared before Magistrates on Tuesday.
Ann Smout, prosecuting, explained to the court that Griffiths had been caught in possession of a small amount of cocaine in the toilets of The Man in the Moon. Security guards called the Police, with officers soon responding to the scene on St James’ Street.
The case was only brought before Magistrates as Griffiths failed to engage with Police, therefore an out of court disposal was not an option.
Before passing sentence, Magistrates heard that Benjamin appeared in court just last month – on 24th August – for the offence of drug driving, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The bench fined Griffiths £213 and ordered him to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.

Well nice to see he learnt his lesson..
Not a chef, a junkie that flips burgers.
“Out of court disposal”
