FOUND: Police have this evening (Thursday) launched a search for a missing man in the West Wight area.
The National Police Air Support Helicopter has been involved in the search, circling the West Wight area since 17:45 before being stood down. The search has now been taken up by Coastguard Rescue 104 Helicopter which is currently searching up and down the coast between Alum Bay and Blackgang.
WightSAR, the Island’s volunteer Lowland search and rescue organisation, were put on standby by Hampshire Constabulary at 17:20 and were deployed just an hour later. The team are conducting searches along Military Road and surrounding areas.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from The Needles and Ventnor are also understood to be involved in the search.
Island Echo believes the missing man’s phone was last traced to the West Wight area.
Hampshire a constabulary are yet to issue any details regarding the search.
UPDATE FRIDAY: Friends and family of missing 48-year-old Jeff Stacey from Gunville are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.
Jeff was last seen on Tuesday but hasn’t been seen since. His phone was traced to the Yarmouth area by Police, however a search overnight has failed to locate him.
Mr Stacey went missing last month, but was found shortly after.
UPDATE FRIDAY @ 10:15 – It has been confirmed that Mr Stacey has now been found safe and well.
