The Ocean Deck Bar & Restaurant on Sandown’s Esplanade is to close later this month after the current tenant’s 10 years at the helm.
Announcing the news on social media, the popular eatery has advised customers wanting to pay them a final visit to book in advance ahead of the doors closing on Sunday 29th October.
Famed for their Sunday carveries and their scenic location, they will now be open for just 4 more Sundays before shutting their doors as their 10-year lease comes to an end.
The restaurant has said:
“As the end of our 10 year lease draws close, and our beautiful Island becomes quieter, we will be closing our doors after Sunday carvery, on Sunday 29th October 2023.
“Sundays are our busiest day of the week at this time of the year, so booking will be essential. Please note we will close after carvery every Sunday from now on and opening hours will be in line with the demands of the business.”
“We will close/close early if it is particularly quiet, especially when the weather is not in our favour. Therefore we strongly advise, to avoid disappointment, that you call us on 01983 403960 or drop us a message via Facebook to book in advance.
“We look forward to seeing you all in our final month and thank you for your continued support over the past 10 years.”
The news was greeted with sadness by users of social media who remembered their ‘amazing memories’ and ‘the lovely food and staff’.
It is unclear if the restaurant will re-open under new leadership.
