How have Isle of Wight restaurants, pubs, cafes, hotels and shops fared recently in food hygiene inspections?
Based on guidance from the government’s Food Standards Agency, eateries are judges on how clean they are; how hygienic the food handling is and what food safety management procedures are in place.
The Isle of Wight Council’s environmental health officers carry out the inspections and based on the findings award the establishments with a score out of 60.
The scores then fall into one of 6 ratings — ranging from 5 (very good) to 0 (urgent improvement necessary).
Here are some of the latest scores on the doors …

So many establishments have 5 stars, yet I have seen chips etc
on the floor in many places.
It makes me wonder if some of the establishments know the inspectors who score them.
The island is a Goldfish bowl.
The Island runs on an who you know basis, so it would not surprise me.
Just give them a free lunch and a cuppa
Guaranteed a 5 Star
Does anyone know an Establishment selling a coffee for less than £3
Blackpool good Burgers are £1 at Chris Higgitts and a coffee can be bought for 75p
Isle of Wight are ripping people off.
Many establishments are charging £15 for a Burger meal
Shame they don’t add scores for customer service.
What’s customer service I hear you say. Non existent
