Thousands of scooterists are set to descend on the Isle of Wight today (Thursday) ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend’s annual Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, which will include the traditional Sunday ride-out.
The Scooter Rally weekend runs through to Bank Holiday Monday (26th August) – the highlight of which is the ride-out from Ryde Esplanade on Sunday (25th August 2024) at 13:00. Scooters of all ages and sizes will take part in the mass ride through the East Wight. Crowds will gather along the seafront in Ryde to wave off the riders as they travel through Nettlestone, St Helens, Bembridge, Yaverland, Sandown, Shanklin and Apse Heath, to return to Sandown Airport. Once again the main base of the rally – organised by VFM Collective – is Sandown Airport where there are bars, food, shopping, music and more.

More pollution, more stink, more wreckless driving, more accidents. Sunday Rideout, more like bloody chaos.
And what about the revenue they all bring the island, because I believe the tourists is where most of the islands revenue comes from.. it’s 1 weekend out of the year….
revenue at the expense of clean air in ryde – geniuses
I love seeing the scooters, they do more for
Island businesses than any festival.
Perhaps you don’t live in Ryde and have to deal with them en masses for the entire period.
Going by the weather, ferry cancellations and diversions everywhere I would think a good few of them will say not this year…
And please don’t confuse these muppets with proper bikers, they were a nuisance in the 60s, and not much different now.
proper bikers???? let’s be honest scooterists wouldn’t want to be known as bikers, it’s a completely different genre to enjoy two wheel riding, what a wally you are!
Proper bikers as you say are wreckless,
have you not seen the way they ride on the
Military Road etc.
No wonder there are so many accidents on the island
involving uneducated Numpty’s on Motorcycles
At least the Scooters don’t travel at ridiculous speeds.
Slow down F.F.S
Irish Anus& Old School, nice couple of reactionary, moaning Daily Mail readers
Driving many miles a year I have seen many many accidents caused by Motor bikes. The scooters are not a problem.
More Scooterists now head to Brighton for the bank holiday weekend. The locals give them a warmer welcome there.
Brighton is the real home of the Scooterists
Quadrophenia
Lol
Only 17 thumbs downs, come on. Really.
I thought were were talking about every normal day
on the island with Numpty Caulkheads polluting the
Island in their Diesel and Petrol vehicles.
Shame IW Council are not doing enough to
promote Electric vehicles like Mayor Khan does.
Why not move to London you could be near your idol then.
Well, move to London and see how happy you are.
You certainly live up to the name you’ve chosen
I’d love to go out on that ride as a pillion!
I hope they’ve got a decent coffee machine at the Airport… last time I went and had a cappuccino, it was like drinking dishwater…
No, still shocking excuse for coffee !!
Deep joy. I could do the busy roads bit if it wasn’t for the choking smell of the scooters. Tech should by now be able to make the exhaust smell like roses, or cut grass. Now wouldn’t that be lovely! Nice bunch of humans in general though.
If i had my way I’d ban the event. Alcohol fueled dangerous riders… I hate everything about this event.
What about the local drunk lady that was driving and killed a scooterist ????? His first day on the Island.. not many locals mention that do they…………
Sooo agree
If only you’d have voted reform. They’d have stopped events like this from spoiling our lives.
Too late now.
Good God, a Farage supporting Fascist is amongst us.
Useful to be warned of this polluting racket coming our way again, spoiling our life until gone
If that’s all you’ve got to worry and whinge about you’re a lucky person.
It isn’t, but I’ll fit it in!
Warning? They’ve been coming every August Bank Holiday (that I’ve been aware of as I came to the Island 1980).
So 44yrs of my actual knowledge???
So how much more notice needed?
Haha-ha! :))
You could say that about every event on the Island, remember that when you go to events/ holiday off the island… bet they spend way more money on there weekend here than you do on a weeks holiday in a different country, that you got to by polluting the air…!
You got to love them, ferry costs, accommodation costs. They still come. Eating out, drinks, the whole kit an caboodle. For every scooter over this weekend or on the island I will tip my cap. Also for all those that do not like the smell of Castrol r stay in bed. seen a couple coming over from California just to watch the ride out. 5 riders , that are riding from Italy. love it all.
Weĺl I hope they keep there distance from me and don’t ruin my day off from work.
Better not wake me up either I’m not the same when i haven’t had me snickers
