It has been confirmed that Sandown’s only Post Office is set to temporarily close in early March, but with rumours that the branch will re-open soon after following a store refurbishment.
It was in October last year that Central shut its Avenue Road convenience store. At the time it was announced that the Post Office would continue trading from the location for 6 months, until March 2023.
It has been confirmed this week that the Post Offic will close on Friday 10th March at 17:00.
The future of the Post Office provision in Sandown is unclear, but rumours suggest that the shop is to undergo a refurbishment and re-open under new management, with the Post Office returning.
A spokesperson for the Post Office has said:
“We are looking to restore a Post Office service in this area as soon as possible”.
The nearest alternative branches are Lamorby Road in Lake or Regent Street in Shanklin.
The Post Office was previously located on Beachfield Road before moving to Spar on Albert Road. It then moved again to Central following the closure of the Albert Road shop.

Let’s hope the rumour is true! Sandown NEEDS a Post Office.
