Sandown High Street has welcomed the arrival of a new and innovative enterprise – a Belgian chocolate shop. Mayor Alex Lightfoot joined with local community members this week to open Fran Pauwels’s ‘Everything Chocolate’. Opening daily from 08:00-17:00 (closed on Sundays), the shop offers a range of unique chocolate creations, from waffles to cakes, individually crafted sweets to a range of drinks, with the promise of creative workshops in the Autumn. Owner Fran says:
“I first came to Sandown 30 years ago and very much want to be a part of the town’s regeneration. “We have worked tirelessly for 6 weeks, with the help of friends and family, to ensure we can be open for the Summer Season. “I’d like to thank all those who have given their time and upcycled the decorations in the shop”.
Mayor Lightfoot adds:
“Fran’s Belgian Creations is a welcome and innovative addition to the High Street, I wish Fran all the success and am sure that she will have the support of the town”.

This is so lovely, I grew up in sandown with all the great shops in the High Street walking in the road during summer cause so packed, now days its cafes and charity shops. Which is good but always nice to have something that little bit special I will be visiting as soon as I can. Well done !
And it will be gone this time next year with the islands shoplifters and the lack of winter sales and the high rates and the high price to get it delivered to that rundown island that will kill it. yes we had a sweet shop. good luck with it

I thought there was a chocolate shop in Newport? I think it was in the old CP building, I remember reading about it about 6 months ago, unless it’s closed down already?

Have to say, Sandown wouldn’t have been my first choice of location to open a shop these days. Ryde and Newport are busier, but maybe rents are higher there?
