Ryde Inshore Rescue were paged to assist a 22ft yacht stuck on Ryde Sands this evening (Friday), one of the first shouts for the independent volunteer station since an attack on both lifeboats back in July.
Ryde Rescue 2 was launched at just gone 18:10 to a 22ft yacht with 2 persons on board that had become stuck on Ryde Sands.
Thankfully, the yacht was successfully towed off the sand and into deeper water by the lifeboat.
After the rescue crew checked that all was ok with the boat and the skipper, the now-freed yacht made sail back to its home port.
Ryde Rescue 2 and her crew returned to station at 19:20 ready for service.
It is understood Ryde Rescue 1 should return to action in the coming weeks.
