A Ryde man whose assault on his mother left her feeling ‘threatened’ has seen his case sent to the Crown Court.
Angus Feist, 24, of Green Street, admitted assault by beating when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Tuesday 17th June).
Lauren McConnell, prosecuting, told the court that on the afternoon of 26th June 2024, Feist’s mother returned home to find her front door was left open. She was unhappy about this because of the risk of her dogs leaving the property – something she had previously warned her son about.
When confronted and asked to shut the door, Feist said no and proceeded to slam and then open the door 5 times. The 24-year-old father-of-one then walked past his mother and pushed her, forcing her to stumble backwards.
Mrs McConnell told those in the courtroom that Feist called his mother a c**t. Feist then went into his room and began kicking a dog cage.
The court heard how Feist’s mother claimed she felt ‘threatened’ by her son and that he became harder to contain when he had been drinking often getting angry and using foul language.
At a previous Magistrates Court appearance, Feist entered a not guilty plea but changed his plea at the start of June.
Back in January 2024, Feist was convicted of several offences including assault occasioning ABH and intentional strangulation. In May of that year, he was handed a Crown Court Suspended Sentence Order.
Defending, Oscar Vincent told the court that since Angus’ arrest in June 2024 there have been no further matters involving his client brought to the court’s attention and that following a stint in a residential rehab facility, Feist has become almost completely T-total.
As a result of the offences being committed whilst Feist was subject to a suspended sentence, the case was adjourned until 11th July at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
