RYDE MAN CHARGED WITH DRINK DRIVING AFTER WALL CRASH IN COWES

33-year-old Gregg Wicks from Ryde has been charged with drink driving after a car smashed into a cemetery wall in Cowes at the weekend. As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called shortly after 02:20 on Sunday morning to reports of a collision involving a single vehicle at the junction of Newport Road and Mill Hill Road. It was reported that a car had collided with a wall and that an altercation was seen taking place between 2 people inside the vehicle. Officers attended and located a woman in her 40s with an injury to her head which required treatment. Her injury has been assessed as not life-changing or life-threatening. Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that Gregg Thomas Wicks, 33, of Upton Road in Ryde, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit. He will appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19th March.
