31-year-old Matthew Turvey has pleaded guilty to possessing a number of indecent images of children – including a video of a child being abused.
Turvey, of St Michael’s Avenue in Ryde, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he admitted possessing a total of 60 indecent images of underage children and 1 indecent video, of the worst kind.
Leah Dillon, prosecuting, explained to the court that Police arrived at Turvey’s door – just 300 metres from a primary school – after being tipped off by an online paedophile hunter group. He declared ‘I’m bollocksed’.
Officers seized a number of devices from Turvey’s home address, which took months to examine due to the sheer number of images contained on each device – 122,000 images in total.
Following forensic examination, Police determined there was a total of 49x Category C images, 11x Category B images and 1x Category A video – showing a child being sexually abused.
The court heard that in interview, Turvey explained he wanted to talk to people and they would send pictures. He said that the video of a child being abused was ‘disturbing’ and that he should have deleted it, not saved it to his phone.
Magistrates adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report to be compiled, with Matthew Turvey due back before the same court on 9th May.
He has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register within 3 days.
His mother said he was her biggest mistake
Ye should be de bollocked..
Murder’s, Rapist’s, Sex offenders should be put down with any means to hand. Not given a slap on the wrist and a small fine. We are too bloody soft on these issues. Also, for all those that disagree with me, try giving forgiveness if it was one of your family that got raped or murdered. you think about it.
