The Royal Selection event took place at East Cowes Liberal Club on Saturday 19th April, drawing families and supporters for an afternoon of celebration and community spirit.
DJ Timster provided the entertainment, with thanks also given to the venue hosts and a panel of judges which included Susan Armitage, Janet Hickman, Zoe Langridge and Kira Lacey.
This year’s Carnival Royalty has been announced as:
- Senior Queen: Abby
- Senior Princesses: Kaedee and Summer
- Junior Queen: Hannah
- Junior Princesses: Emily and Danelle
The Association has also launched several events in the run-up to the big day. On Saturday (4th May), a Star Wars-themed 4K Fun Run was held in East Cowes.
On Friday (10th May), the Association will be fundraising at Riverfest in Newport.
Carnival Workshops will run twice a month at the East Cowes Scout Hut on Adelaide Grove, supported by the Isle of Wight Council. These sessions, held on the first and third Sunday of each month from 10:00-12:00, are free and open to families Island-wide. Activities include costume-making and dance preparation for Mardi Gras and the summer carnivals.
Thanks have also been extended to WightAid, which has awarded a £500 grant to support the Association’s efforts.
