The countdown to the 2026 Round the Island Race is officially under way, with entries set to open next Friday and early bird discounts available for a limited time.
The iconic 50-nautical-mile race around the Isle of Wight will launch on Friday 23rd January, with competitors able to secure reduced entry fees for the first three weeks.
This year’s race will take place on Saturday 11th July.
Race Director Dave Atkinson says preparations are already well advanced at the Island Sailing Club as organisers gear up for another memorable edition of the event.
“The excitement and anticipation is really building as we approach the launch of Round the Island Race 2026,” said Dave Atkinson, Race Director.
“We’ve been busy behind the scenes at the Island Sailing Club getting everything ready for launch, and now it’s time to build the momentum ahead of the race in July.
“Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or keen to take part for the first time, the race is open to all, so please join us and be part of a really special occasion.”
Hundreds of boats are once again expected to take part in the annual spectacle, which starts from the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line at Cowes before heading west towards The Needles.
The fleet then continues around the Island, passing St Catherine’s Point and Bembridge Ledge Buoy, before re-entering the Solent and finishing back in Cowes.
Competitors who sign up early can take advantage of significantly discounted entry fees across boats of all sizes, with prices starting from £140. Entry fees will revert to the standard rate on Friday 14th February.
A dedicated Race Village will be based on Cowes Parade throughout the race weekend, featuring live music and entertainment across three days from Friday 10th July.
