A 57-year-old man has been arrested after a rock was used to smash a pharmacy window in Ryde yesterday evening (Monday).
At around 18:48 yesterday (Monday) Police were called to reports of an alarm being activated at Boots Pharmacy, below Tower House Surgery on Rink Road in Ryde.
Upon arrival, officers have discovered a smashed window and a large rock located on the floor nearby. Various empty prescription boxes were also found in the pharmacy.
Following enquiries into the incident, a 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has since been released under investigation.
Island Echo understands that a male was detained at an address on Union Street last night.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has urged anyone who is offered prescription medication, not from a pharmacy, to call 101 quoting incident number 44250486768.
This is the latest in a serious of pharmacy break-ins on the Isle of Wight in the last few months.
