A busy road in Ventnor has been closed today (Thursday) to allow emergency sewer repairs to be undertaken.
Gills Cliff Road has been closed from its junction with Whitwell Road for a distance of 160 metres – down the hill towards Castle Road.
A leaking sewer connection is to blame for the emergency roadworks.
Motorists are being diverted up Gills Cliff Road to Ocean View Road, Mitchell Avenue, Spring Hill, High Street, Victoria Street, Albert Street, Pier Street, Church Street and Alpine Road.
It is unknown exactly when the road will re-open.
Sounds like a ‘big job’ to me.
