UPDATED: A road on the outskirts of Brading is blocked this evening (Saturday) due to a Southern Vectis bus breaking down in the middle of the carriageway.
Traffic has come to a halt in both directions on Marshcombe Shute between Yarbridge and Yaverland after a double decker bus tried to do a turn in the road, grounding out on a bank and damaging the vehicle.
It is currently unclear why the bus, understood to be a Route 3, was attempting to turn.
Motorists are unable to pass the scene and are advised to diver via Morton Common and Yaverland Road.
UPDATE @ 17:41 – Island Roads are this evening reporting ‘traffic chaos’ in the Yarbridge Cross area. Motorists are advised to avoid if possible.
Southern Vectis have said due to the breakdown and closure of the road, long delays are being experienced to Route 3 services.
UPDATE @ 18:30 – Delays of up to 30 minutes are now being experienced on Route 3 and the service is no longer serving Brading due to the road being closed in both directions by Island Roads.
UPDATE @ 20:12 – Marshcombe Shute, Yarbridge remains closed tonight due to the earlier incident involving a Southern Vectis bus.
Route 3 is still unable to serve Brading as a result.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – The broken down bus has been removed from the scene and the road has now reopened. Route 3 will now serve Brading once again.
