Bembridge RNLI went to the assistance of a drifting angling boat off the East coast of the Isle of Wight this evening (Saturday).
The temporary relief lifeboat the Frank and Anne Wilkinson (16-06) launched at just before 18:00 at the request of Solent Coastguard to assist a 24ft angling boat with two crew onboard that had lost her propeller and was drifting about 4 miles south of the Nab Tower.
The All Weather Lifeboat crewed by the Bembridge volunteers reached the ‘Channel Warrior’ at just before 18:30 and took her under tow to Gosport Marina, arriving at around 20:45.
Having successfully rescued the vessel, the Tamar-class lifeboat returned to Bembridge and was rehoused by 21:45.
