UPDATED: Wightlink are to run a revised timetable on their Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry service tomorrow (Friday) following this morning’s fire on board St Faith.
With the mid-Solent blaze ruling the 27-year-old ferry out of action and St Clare away for refit, Wightlink are left with a 2-vessel service with the remaining Wight Sun and St Cecilia ferries.
As first reported by Island Echo, an air conditioning unit caught fire on the 09:00 sailing from Portsmouth as the ferry passed Ryde. Thankfully, the blaze was quickly extinguished by the ship’s crew which prevented any injury to the 65 people on board.
UPDATE FRIDAY – A normal timetabled service has now resumed with St Faith back in service, however delays of around 20 minutes are being experienced.
Revised timetable – Friday 20th January 2016
Wightlink will not be accepting any standby traffic without a booking.
