Tens of thousands of music fans are today (Thursday) descending on the Isle of Wight as Bestival 2014 gets underway.
With the sun breaking through the clouds, spirits are high as revellers take the short cross-Solent journey before making their way to Robin Hill Adventure Park, the host location of one of the UK’s hottest music festivals (which is set to be better than ever). Once again Bestival has sold out.
Crowds are larger than ever on Ryde Esplanade with queues for the buses stretching all the way back onto Ryde Pier, with many noting on how much busier this year’s commute to Bestival appears to be.
The Giggly Grannies are selling purple butterflies in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and the KissyPuppy charity in memory of Sophie Rolf.
Motorists can expect delays in the Briddlesford Road and Lushington Hill areas of Wootton as well as Quarr Hill, Binstead. Those not travelling to the Bestival site are advised to avoid Downend and the surrounding areas with traffic very heavy in the area.
