Residents are being urged to take action by the Environment Agency as a flood warning is issued for Sandown, Brading and Bembridge on the Eastern Yar.
The authority says that flooding is expected, including to properties, as river levels remain high and therefore flood protection should be activated now.
The situation has led to a more severe warning being issued on top of the alert for the wider Eastern Yar from Whitwell. Flood alerts are also in place for the River Medina, Lukely Brook and Gurnard Luck.
Flooding is continuing to affect Morton Common – the main road between Ryde and Sandown – and Golf Links Road. Both remain closed to all traffic.
Elsewhere in Sandown, Fort Holiday Park and Sandown Sewage works are continuing to flood as ditches struggle to drain to the main river.
Further north, Nicholas Close in Brading is also flooded – as previously reported by Island Echo.
With rain set to continue for the rest of the day, its further rainfall on Friday and Saturday, river levels are expected to remain high for the next few days.

Nature is doing what the authorities can’t do.
Make motorists slow down!
Nature will win, despite humans’ best efforts to destroy it, overpower it and harness it’s power.
We deserve all we get; fter protecting us for centuries, Mother Nature is fighting her corner and woe betide you if you get in her way. She is more powerful than we mere mortal idiots.
So true, look at the land nr Marshcombe shute
nature wants to reclaim it.
I am surprised they have time to worry about floods.
– More than a quarter of all diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) events have been held by the Environment Agency, according to new figures from the TaxPayers’ Alliance.
Bloody piss take! THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY TELLS RESIDENTS TO ACT NOW. YOU ACT AND YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FLOODING.YOU ARE THE ONES WE ARE ALL PAYING TO ACT AND DOING SOD ALL
