UPDATED: Gurit UK Ltd have begun a consultation on further redundancies at their Newport site today (Tuesday), it has been confirmed to Island Echo.

The composite manufacturing firm situated on St Cross Business Park say they have entered a period of consultation to discuss ‘potential minor adjustments’ to their workforce.

It is unclear just how many positions are at risk and when the redundancies are proposed for. A spokesperson for Gurit UK has said no further comments will be made at this time.

Just under 2 years ago it was revealed by Island Echo that up to 95 jobs were to be slashed at Gurit as part of 3 steps to shape the future of it’s Composite Components business.

UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Island Echo understands around 12 jobs are at risk – 9 on the production floor and 3 on the managerial side.

Gurit are yet to issue any further details.
