Medina Foodservice is reportedly looking to make a number of staff redundant, just ahead of the busy Summer season.
Island Echo has received reports that as many as 8 roles are being cut at the food distribution business, which operates from Riverway in Newport and supplies hospitality venues across the Isle of Wight.
The claimed redundancies come at what is usually prime time for the hospitality industry as Summer trading ramps up.
When asked about the redundancies, a spokesperson for Medina Foodservice – part of the Sysco group – neither confirmed nor denied the matter.
The spokesperson said:
“We’re always looking at ways to improve the service we provide our customers.
“We don’t share details of conversations before discussion with our colleagues.”
When questioned further by Island Echo, the company added:
“We’ve nothing to add to the original statement at this time”.

Thank the labour budget.
Lol
Nothing to do with it being owned by a multi national company now, and they have all the infrastructure to take ordereds on the mainland? My money says it’ll be office staff that’ll go. Nothing to do with the labour budget. (Lol)
