Red Funnel has been forced to cancel at least 6 sailings on its hi-speed Red Jet service this afternoon (Wednesday) and into this evening due to yet more technical woes. It’s said that an undisclosed technical issue with Red Jet 6 means the 15:35, 16:45 and 17:55 crossings from Southampton have been pulled, alongside the 16:10, 17:20 and 18:30 sailings from West Cowes. The whole operation is now reliant on just 1 vessel again – Red Jet 7. It comes after weeks of disruption for the cross-Solent service. It is unclear at this time if there will be any further cancellations today, or whether tomorrow’s services will be affected. Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey. UPDATE @ 19:35 – Red Funnel has confirmed that the disruption will continue into Thursday. The 06:05, 07:15 and 08:25 Red Jet sailings from Southampton have been cancelled for tomorrow morning, alongside the 06:40, 07:50 and 09:00 sailings from West Cowes. It’s said that teams are working hard to resolve the issue. It is known that Red Jet 6 is running on just 3 of its 4 engines, with supply chain issues being blamed for the delay in bringing the vessel back up to full operation.
