Red Funnel have been forced to suspend their hi-speed Red Jet service this morning (Friday) due to adverse weather conditions on the Solent.
Strong winds mean that it is currently unsafe for the Red Jets to run between West Cowes and Southampton.
Initially, the 09:45 from Southampton and the 10:15 from West Cowes were cancelled but red Funnel has now confirmed that the service has been suspended in its entirity.
An update is expected at 12:30.
The adverse weather is also affecting Wightlink’s Yarmouth to Lymington car ferry today. Earlier in the day crew sickness was affecting the Fishbourne-Portsmouth route.
UPDATE @ 13:36 – Red Jet will return to a timetabled service from Southampton at 13:45 and West Cowes at 14:15.

Had hoped to catch 11:15 am Red Jet to W Cowes yesterday (6th Dec 2019) but was warned of cancellation by Quayconnect bus driver as I got on at So’ton Central, which was helpful as it allows you to modify plans. Decided to try my luck on the 12:00 E Cowes sailing and was pleased to find that I could use my Red Jet ticket with no complications. Arrived at W Wight destination much less delayed than I had feared. You can’t change the weather, but I felt that the whole thing had been handled well.
