The rescue of a person from the water in Southampton has led to delays and cancellations on Red Funnel’s services this morning (Wednesday).
It was shortly before 05:50 that a male was sighted in the sea up Southampton Water, prompting the immediate launch of Red Funnel’s rescue boat.
The casualty was hauled onboard and given life-saving first aid before being transferred to the awaiting emergency services.
He has since been rushed to Southampton General Hospital.
As a result of the emergency, Red Funnel had to cancel the 06:00 vehicle ferry sailing from Southampton and the 07:30 return from East Cowes.
The hi-speed Red Jet service was also delayed by 15 minutes.
Red Funnel is now reporting that services are running to timetable.
