Red Funnel has cancelled at least 4 of its vehicle ferry crossings today (Saturday) due to a technical issue with Red Eagle’s propulsion system. Earlier on today the cross-Solent operator cancelled the 16:00 sailing from Southampton and the 17:30 from East Cowes due to what is described as an issue with the Aft Voith unit. Now, the 19:00 from Southampton has also been pulled alongside the 20:30 from East Cowes. It is unclear at this time if there will be any further cancellations today, and whether or not the troubles will continue into Sunday. Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey. UPDATE @ 20:30 – The 22:00 from Southampton and the 23:30 from East Cowes have also been cancelled, it has been confirmed. UPDATE SUNDAY – The disruption continues today, with cancellations throughout the day.
